GOD:
Where have you been?
SATAN:
Cruising, cruising all the time
Not on Pluto, not on Mars
Not on Jupiter, nor the Moon
But to and from the face of the earth
And walking up and down on it.
GOD:
Did you see my servant Job?
There is no one on earth like him.
An upright man, as cool as cool can be,
He hates evil and loves His God.
An upright man as cool as cool can be
There is no one on earth like him.
SATAN:
Yeah, yeah,. You can tease me more,
Does Job for nothing fear the Lord?
Have you not hedged around the man
Like mother hen protects her chicks,
Protecting life and properties
That do belong to him?
His substance bursting through the seams,
Across the land for all to see.
I will do it, I will do it,
If you’ll let me touch the man,
I will kick him where it hurts.
Take away your hedge from him
And let me take the things he has.
You’ll see him curse You to Your face.
Then You’ll know they’re all the same;
Including Job, ‘your coolest man on earth’.
GOD:
Go ahead and do your worst,
You think you’ve got it sorted,
Go ahead and touch the man
And move the things he stands on.
I’ll let you touch his properties,
I’ll let you touch his flesh,
Am proud of him- he will not fail.
His soul and spirit do not touch
For he belongs to me.
Job my man, an upright man
The coolest man on earth.
